Washington, DC – Congressman Todd Akin (R-Mo), today renewed his call for significantly reducing government spending by calling for the defeat of a nearly half-trillion dollar spending omnibus bill.
"As a nation, we are spending unprecedented amounts and incurring levels of debt that threaten our future financial security," said Akin. "Just several weeks ago, Democrats passed a nearly trillion dollar ‘stimulus’ bill and this week are attempting to pass a $410 billion dollar omnibus."
"It was only on Monday that President Obama was encouraging financial restraint at his ‘financial responsibility summit’, said Akin. "It is inconceivable as to how the passage of this massive package is at all consistent with the principle of financial responsibility."
